From newsletters and advertisements to junk we didn’t sign up for, all of us have things hitting our inbox that we don’t want. Maybe it’s a newsletter you signed up for years ago that isn’t relevant. Or perhaps some company sold your name to someone else and they’re trying to get you to buy their newest product. Our lives have become noisy and complicated, and email is just another way to shout at us.
But now you can fight back. There are services popping up that easily allow you to lower the volume and get your sanity back. Here’s a quick look at a few of them:
- Unroll.me provides a service where you can not only unsubscribe easily from things you don’t want, but also can create a daily digest with things you do want. The great thing about this is that you can see the content you want to read and silence the things you don’t. It supports a wide range of email providers (Outlook.com (including Hotmail, MSN, & Windows Live), Gmail, Google Apps, Yahoo! Mail, AOL Mail, and iCloud) and signup is easy.
- Unsubscriber is a similar service to Unroll.me, but with a slightly more limited feature set. It doesn’t include the daily digest feature, but telling them how to unsubscribe is a snap. They’ll create a folder in your account, and you just drag messages into that folder for automatic un-subscription. Super easy. It works with Gmail, Outlook.com, AOL, and Yahoo! services and because it works with a folder in your email box you can also use any standard email client that works with those providers.
- MailRoute is a different animal. This is a hosted service that will run your inbound and outbound email through spam and virus filters. You don’t have to worry about it. You can use it with Office 365, Gmail, your own IMAP account, and many more. MailRoute also offers GreyListing at no extra cost. These are some powerful features for a low monthly price.
Our big driver is that people matter. You matter, your customers matter, and your future customers matter. We want you to be able to concentrate on things that matter and not have to worry about getting through the clutter of your inbox. Hopefully you’ll give one of these services a shot and find one that works for you.
