What Do You Bring to Solomon? 

​I handle much of the day-to-day administration and operations work that keeps Solomon Solution running smoothly behind the scenes. Everyone is busy and always looking for ways to save time, so I love finding ways to make our team’s lives easier – whether it’s cleaning up a digital mess, implementing a new process, organizing financial data, onboarding a new employee or just jumping on any random project that comes my way.​ 

When Did You Start Your Marketing Career? 

My background is in operations, so it feels kind of odd when I tell people I work for a marketing firm. Although my job is very different from the other team members, we all share a common passion for improvement and innovation, regardless of background. And through the support of Solomon Solution, I became a Marketo Certified Expert to communicate more clearly with our clients and join projects when needed.

What Is Your Proudest Professional Moment?

​As Operations Analyst at Seattle Humane, an animal adoption center, it was discovered dozens of new people attending volunteer orientations each month, yet somehow our departments were always shorthanded. Time donated by volunteers is vital to the operation of Seattle Humane. Solving this operations breakdown would improve the care and placement of animals in need.  

The department was a mess, and there was a ton of manual, repetitive work being done from scratch each time. This created an overwhelmed staff and tons of lost opportunities for new volunteers. I had discovered that each department over time had drifted away from using the centralized scheduling process, and as a result, there was confusion, frustration, and eventual a huge loss of volunteer time. This was back before everything was on the cloud, so it was easy to end up with multiple methods and conflicting processes. This had gone on for months, even years where the lack of a formalized, efficient process had significant negative consequences. 

I designed and documented a new process for moving new volunteers from the first point of contact all the way to job assignment and scheduling. Most importantly, I trained department managers in implementing the new volunteer onboarding process.  It was a great joy to get to see everyone’s jobs become easier across the organization and help grow their volunteer community. 

What Is the Best Part of Your Job? 

​I love to help lessen stress for everyone and increase accuracy and efficiency wherever possible. In other words, I love that I’m no longer the only nerd that gets excited about a good spreadsheet or new tool that automates steps in a process! 

However, on a very practical level, the best part of my job is the flexibility it offers. As a part-time, stay-at-home mom in Kansas City, it’s great to be able just to bring my laptop and work anywhere, any time. I miss being able to see the team in person, but in my current life stage, I wouldn’t have it any other way.  

For this, I am very grateful to both Solomon and to modern technology.​ 

What Makes You Excited to be Part of the Team? 

It’s exciting to see our team’s passion for technical and innovative processes cross boundaries even though we have all had totally different jobs and experiences. I love that I don’t have to constantly explain the importance of process documentation, paying attention to details or tracking information in a centralized place, because it’s already a common practice for the Solomon team. 

What Do You Do in Your Pastime? 

As a family, myself, my husband and our three growing kids, enjoy traveling, camping, and going out discovering fun things, when we have the energy. When we don’t, we love hanging at home, playing games and watching movies. And when I am alone, which is rare, I would ideally be relaxing or trying to read a book on a Christian topic that I have been trying to finish for two years or more.
