What Do You Bring to Solomon?

The organizations I’ve worked with have a track record of using marketing automation to drive pipeline. I don’t think any company fully utilizes the power of these tools, but I’m very proud of the systems I’ve built and managed – and I’m looking forward to helping other organizations get the most out of their systems.

For the last five years, I’ve been involved with large-scale marketing automation at a variety of different companies. I have lead several successful platform migrations and system rebuilds. My expertise includes Marketo, Eloqua, and Pardot, and I’m currently a Marketo Certified Expert as well as a Marketo Certified Revenue Cycle Analyst.

When Did You Start Your Career?

I’ve been involved in marketing ever since I was an undergrad and ran a small business on campus. I really found my niche five years ago, focusing on marketing automation and technology at a company in Kirkland that had Eloqua. They didn’t utilize the platform to its full potential, and I ended up building the company’s first multi-touch nurture programs. Ever since then, I’ve been deeply involved in marketing automation.

What’s Your Proudest Professional Moment?

This wasn’t one single moment, but I’m very proud of how I taught myself Marketo. I had previous experience in Eloqua and Pardot, and specifically looked for a role at a Marketo shop. However, that company at the time didn’t have any other strong Marketo users, and I had to learn the system on the fly. Within six months, I had rebuilt our instance as well as passed the Marketo Certified Expert exam.

What Is the Best Part of Your Job?

One of the best parts of marketing operations is that the role touches so many different parts of an organization. I work closely with marketing teams, sales teams, product teams, and more. Marketing ops has a wide reach across an organization, and that involvement gives you view of the organization that other roles don’t have.

What is the Most Challenging Part of Your Job?

The term “orchestration” gets overused, but I think it is a good one to describe a large part of effective marketing operations. Aligning sales and marketing on standardized processes can be a challenge, and it is often the case that marketing ops is leading that conversation.

What Makes You Excited to be Part of the Team?

I’m excited to be working with team members that have such diverse marketing and technology backgrounds. They do some wild things with Marketo. I’m looking forward to learning from their past and our future successes!

I’m also excited to be working with other Marketo experts. In my previous roles, I was always “the Marketo guy” and had to go outside the company to learn. Now, I’ve got coworkers I can learn from every day. I was drawn to Solomon’s culture of innovation and experimentation to drive efficiency and results, and I’m excited to now be a part of the team.

What Do You Do in Your Pastime?

I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife and I love to take our 11-month-old daughter on walks to the park or out to a restaurant (she’s a very adventurous eater). I also love just about all types of cycling, and get out mountain biking as often as possible.
